I figured that talking about Devil’s Den would be a nice partner piece to my first post about Cedar Lakes. Right down the road from Cedar Lakes, in Williston, Florida, is Devil’s Den. At the location, you will find not only a large park area to roam around in, but the naturally formed cavern that resides beneath the park.

After visiting the check-in center, where you are provided flippers and swim equipment if you did not bring your own, you are directed to this very entrance. Leading down the dark stairwell resides Devil’s Den itself.

At the bottom, you’ll find stairs cascading down into the water. Similar to Florida’s natural springs, Devil’s Den is typically at about 72 degrees year-round. On occasion, scientists will visit the site and do dives to inspect the natural fauna and wildlife. On our particular visit there, we got to meet them and they were really knowledgeable and kind.
I would like to take this moment to leave a friendly reminder: this is a family-owned business on their own property. With such an important trove of natural history, it is our responsibility to make sure that if we visit this place, we leave it how it was when we left. This cavern is home to legitimate fish, and goes down considerably deep.
When we went to Devil’s Den, we brought our own scuba masks which actually turned out to be one of the best purchases we ever made. If you’re interested in possibly going, we recommend purchasing the following mask, as it’s breathability and flexibility was amazing.

The natural beauty of this entire location was worth the drive for us. If you love nature or outdoors activities, Williston in general might be a great place to check out!
